Footnote to last night's Happy Hour...$4 cocktails and selected beers and I guarantee full strength alcohol, all to wash down our yummy pizza. The Happy Hour is going to be a regular occurrence, funny that happens as we hit USA.
Today we arrived in Boston, we hung around for several hours as we arrived early (also very significant considering we had 15 hours to "lose" after Dublin), had our face to face immigration, a pain but never mind. It was great to get off the ship. We caught a taxi with Maureen and Kim and headed off to the main town. We were dropped off at the Quincy Market area, a mixture of mobile stalls and shops. George and Kim are both interested in looking at the Apple Ipad. Everything from Fried Dough to the Hot Dog stands selling huge sausages, and many Irish themed shops and pubs too. So we got a taste of Dublin after all. Then I saw ahead ...MACYS...I didn't think I would see it until New York. I could hardly contain myself lol. George gave me 30 minutes in there so I could not possibly do it justice. It's a very nice store and not bad prices too. Maureen and I looked around a few other shops, before we walked through a beautiful park.. Boston Common. It was lovely to see squirrels everywhere and ornamental lakes with white swans. Boston has many historical old buildings. cobbled streets and interesting wall plaques recalling the history. We walked quite a distance to eventually arrive at "Cheers" Bar. from the hit TV show many years ago. It was on a tree lined, terraced housed street...gorgeous. It was very busy but we managed to find some seats and had the obligatory beer. The only reminder of its former glory were the lights all around the bar (for the camera I guess).Anyway we can say we have been!!. We didn't have a lot of time in this port, only 5 hours so still so much to see another time maybe.
