Day 38 Anzac Cove

We have just had our Anzac Cove memorial service. It was beautifully done, and a few tears were shed by many. The choir sang very well. The weather was perfect and calm seas. To look out toward Gallipoli aboard this ship, we realise how lucky we are.
As soon as the last song was over, I flew down to get some ironing done, (foolishly thinking I would be the only one, surely), WRONG.....the queue was forming in the corridor. Either not everyone is patriotic or laundry comes before everything. Ah well, on 104 day cruise, you do wear the same clothes many times.

Day 37 Istanbul Turkey

Our tour was named Easy Istanbul and it was a huge let down. I will remember Istanbul fondly only because I had a phone call from Kevin whilst sitting on a bus!! We did not visit The Blue Mosque!! Our tour guide insisted it was not part of the tour and drove past it. We spent more time visiting a carpet sales pitch, not happy Jan. Anyway we have complained to the Tour Desk, as have many others. So future WC, do not do this tour, do it on your own. Istanbul looked to be a lovely city, and we walked around for a couple of hours after we had left our tour. However as it was a Sunday nothing was opened apart from food places. We did buy some apple tea, which is the national drink here, very nice.
Due to this fiasco, we are probably going to cancel the rest of our pre booked tours, nothing to do with saving money, as tour guides are a lucky draw, ( we ditched our guide in Ephesus or we would have missed seeing so much).
We have a lovely dinner back on board and an early night.
Tomorrow we have a service at as we sail past Anzac Cove, so will be very memorable.
