Once again, an overwhelming day. This is a city you could quite easily move to and be very very happy. Absolutely stunning. White buildings dotted around the most beautiful bay. The drive up to Ephesus was very interesting, a lovely scenic drive. I really expected to see a few ruins....this was an entire city! They archeologists are still uncovering more ruins. We walked along marbled streets, either side had houses, columns, the most elaborate facades. One amphitheatre held 6,000 and the other held 25,000 people. It is still in use for many famous singers. We went into the latrine, 42 marbles toilets, which once had running water. The rich used to send their slaves to warm the marbled seats during the winter before they had to go, its much the same as I do during the winter...I send George to warm the seat for me lol. The huge Celsus Library was breathtaking, the double sealed walls protected the scrolls from humidity. We had a guide who was a touch on the boring side so we ditched him and just went off on our own. We got to see and explore more this way. Three hours is not long enough here, so we have to come back.
Back onboard, sail away was lovely. Everyone had a great day and now off to Istanbul tomorrow.
